facilitiesDescription Ocracoke Campground is only accessible by ferry or aircraft. Campsites are located on sandy soil, so campers are encouraged to bring extra long tent stakes. Flush toilets, drinking water, cold showers and grills are all provided for a more comfortable beach camping experience. The campground is conveniently located on the ocean side, separated from the beach by barrier dunes.

importantInformation Ocracoke is accessible only by ferry or aircraft. Ferry reservations may be required during peak season. Sites are assigned upon arrival. If you are unfamiliar with the site and will be arriving after hours, we recommend calling (252) 928-6671 for registration instructions. Generators may not be used at campsites labeled as D Loop sites. Campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are no shaded sites. Biting insects are prevalent in summer months. Netting and repellent are recommended. At each campsite, there is a limit of six people, two cars (or one car and one trailer), and two tents. All equipment must fit on the site pad. If you have a large RV over 25 feet, you may have to park your second vehicle in the auxiliary parking area just outside the campground or purchase an additional campsite. Vehicles may not be parked on grass. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted on a grill, stove, or other self-contained unit. Wood fires are not permitted. After heavy rain there may be areas of standing water due to the low terrain. Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.
